合子经休眠后，第一次分裂为不均等的横分裂，形成一大一小两个细胞，靠合点端的小，为顶端细胞（apical cell），具浓厚的细胞质，具胚性的功能；靠珠孔端的大，为基细胞（basal cell），具有大的液泡，无胚性，仅具营养功能。
2、顶细胞
无论是主枝或是短枝，顶端均有一个顶细胞(apical cell)，可继续生长。
